What a wonder this world is to behold! The beauty of creation surrounds us. We see it daily. With every sunbeam washing over the trees and grasses, bathing them in the ethereal light of the approaching dawn. We hear it as the birds sing praise, thankful for the new day. We feel it as our children hold us tight, comforted in an eternal love. I thank God for these blessings, and take my pleasure in his creation.
I can imagine, when Jesus walked among us, that he too took pleasure in the songs the birds sang. I can imagine how his friends felt around him, knowing he was of divinity. The way he looked at the world was one of hope for the human race. He spread his word of hope to all people, not a select group. Jesus was the first to say all people matter. Salvation became available to everyone, no matter what their gender, their race, or social standings. Jesus was essentially the most forward thinking, modern, "social justice warrior" God, of all time! But he couldn’t just give it away. He had to help us pay for it, and he did this when he died on the cross.
Jesus asked for few things in life. He asked his disciples to spread the word of his life, death, and resurrection. He asked them to tell everyone in the world that salvation is theirs if they ask for it. He asked for them to spread this good news throughout the world. He asked us all who believe, to help educate peoples of all the world. He made this the one mission given to his apostles. The first mission is also the last, as he will come back when it is completed!
